The Sentry 8501 Portal Monitor is a compact and versatile portal radiation monitoring system. Typically used to detect excessive gamma radiation, this system can be set to alarm at a preset level. Incidents of high radiation levels will trigger an alarm, identify the offending isotope, photograph the perpetrator, record the event data, and notify the system supervisor of the incident. The Sentry 8501 Portal Monitor can be used at hospital emergency room entrances and exits (to monitor medical waste), commercial waste transfer stations, landfills, scrap metal yards, airport terminals, shipping and receiving terminals, as well as medical, cancer, and pharmaceutical research facilities.
